Finishing up week 2
Saturday, March 14th, 2009Hi gang, introduction time here.
I was originally on Atkins back in 1999, starting it when I feared what called the "30-40-50 problem." I was a guy approaching 30 years old with a 40 inch waist and weighing 250 pounds. I took a very serious approach to Atkins (zero cheating, living at near-induction for several months), and dropped from 248 to near 180. I kept the weight off for several years.
Alas, one cheat became another cheat became another, and here I am 10 years later with what I call the "40-40-50" problem.
2 weeks ago I went back on induction, starting at around 245 give or take (My Wii fit and my scale seem to disagree!). After getting sick the first few days on induction (which I did back in ‘99 as well), I got over the hump of starting up and now am on day 13 down well over 10 pounds. I feel better, there’s just the slightest new looseness to my jeans, and I’m determined to get back down. My first goal is a weight of 220, which in BMI terms will place me below the threshold of overweight versus obese. Springtime usually equates to new forms of exercise (I love inline skating, even as a "fat guy" LOL).
Anyhow, a forum like this is great to help stay on track. I’ve been lurking for a while now and started participating now that I’m committed to be back on Atkins, the only WOE that’s really worked effectively for me.
