Vegetarian and LC – HELP me please~

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Hi,

I have been waffling about this for quite a while and really need some help.

First wondered where do most people that are here that are veggie, post?

Is there a forum for veggies doing LC? If not it sure would be great.

I want to stop the meat and all the fat for a while to work on my liver/gall bladder.

I want to stay as LC as possible because last time I did this the fruit I was eating caused very bad cravings.

I could really use some help.
What do you eat (can’t do cheese right now) besides soy (can’t have that either!) for protein? Beans, I am wondering if they are too high carb?

I can do eggs – but I can’t think of anything else?

Can anyone help?

I need meal ideas. I am really frustrated.
Besides salads (which I love – and will have one every day for lunch) what can I do for breakfasts and dinners?

I am really desperate.

Questions for those who’ve quit or are quitting sugar, grains etc

How does for ex Stevia affect you? I’m thinking mainly about cravings, not weight loss effect. My thinking now is to avoid any kind of sugar (sugar, honey, maple syrup, dried fruit etc) except raw fruit. I’ve never used artificial sweeteners and never would (hey, health obsessed vegetarian for ten years ). For baking I just use cocoa, cream, vanilla powder or raw fruit. It’s not the real thing but it satisfies my longing for festiveness without me starting to binge. Is Stevia a good choice or does it set off cravings for you? I’ve never tried it so I know very little of its effects and now is not really a good time for me to experiment having just come out of the sugar daze.

And what about sprouted grain products, like sprouted bread? Do any of you eat sprouted grains and how does it affect you?

The reason I’m asking is that I’m sensing eating no sugar and no grains like bread is going to give me a "hollow" feeling at times like something is missing from my eating (it already has), and if there are foods that brighten up your eating experience without leading to binges, they might be worth trying.

I tried making oopsies yesterday and though they looked lovely mine tasted more like mini-omelettes than bread. Good yes, but still omelettish.

Its Monday, who’s working out today

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Good morning everyone!
So who’s working out today?

I’m going to run 2 miles on the treadmill this morning before getting ready for work and then run 3 miles outside after work tonight, maybe 4 miles I’m going to start upping my mileage and start getting serious about getting these 15 pounds off.

Have a good workout and burn those pounds off.

It’s MONDAY! What are you eating today?

Help…People Keep Asking Me If I Want Bread, Sweets

Friday, March 20th, 2009

I know family wants to be supportive and they think that in order to do so, you must eat, eat, eat! I told hubby I am on Atkins and that the foods I am not allowed to have on induction or in general. I asked him if he bought cookies, please stash them somewhere out of sight. He has a sweet tooth. He jokingly said he should not have to suffer because of my diet. I get that. He also keeps casually offering me bread, fries, things that are sweet…So I don’t think this is sabotage, I think he just does not realize how important this is to me. I mentioned to my sister I was on Atkins and she said you need to eat, without even knowing what or how much I am eating LOL. The more I say no, the more they persist. I love hubby and we get along great. I feel full and happier with my diet and myself since I started induction last Thursday. Any suggestions on how to get family and co-workers to see in a nice way that you don’t want it without coming off as rude?

Magnesium Overload

Friday, March 20th, 2009

I’ve been taking Magnesium for the past few weeks. (I think it’s really helped with my eye twitch) The recommended dose is one tablet a day. Well I somehow got it in my head that 2 tabs were the dose, so for the past few days I’ve been taking double the dose. Today I felt a little backed up (sorry TMI) so I took another 2 tablets. For a total of 1000mg of Magnesium today. I finally realized after swallowing the last 2 that I was taking too much.

I now have no problems in the restroom area. LOL
