Any exercise advice?
Thursday, March 5th, 2009I started working out about a month ago and thought I had a good work out plan. But after reading through some of the posts I’m not so sure.
So, when in doubt, ask.
I think I weigh between 190 and 200 (I don’t own a scale, they drive me crazy). My main goal right now it to drop the weight and not be as flabby.
I’ve worked up to working out 5 days a week. First thing in the morning, I do 30-45 mins of cardio. These are DVDs and I alternate between walking, step, and floor aerobics. After I get the kids on the bus, I do a toning video. They use light to moderate weights with high reps. I saw this refered to girly weights.
But I’m so out of shape, I get muscle fatigued on about 70% of the exercises even using light weights. I’m also thinking about adding the couch to 5k program in the evening so when it warms up I can get out of the house and go for a run.
Now, if I’m going to put all this energy into working out I’d like to get as much bang for my buck as I can. Is this a good workout routine? Are there things I can change to make it more effective? Should I add the couch to 5k or would that be too much cardio?
I would be very grateful for any comments or suggestions.
