Dinner ideas? Critique my menu please :-)
I’m busy trying to lose the last 5-8 lbs before goal – This morning I am up at 145 lbs. I know that weight fluctuates and it will be down to the normal 142 lbs and that it is likely hormone related within a few days, but I was wondering if you would all look at my breakfast/lunch menu and give suggestions on what I might eat for dinner and snack.
Keep in mind that calories DO matter for the last couple lbs. I know that I need to have some sort of snack at some point also. Any ideas?
Breakfast:
– 4 peices of side pork (this is uncured bacon – no salts or sugars, etc.)
– 1 scrambled egg w/:
– 1/4 cup broccoli
– 1/4 cup cauliflower
– 1/4 cup zucchini
– 1 small green onion
– 1 tbsp. butter
Lunch:
– 1.5 cup romain lettuce
– 1/2 cup alfalfa sprouts
– 4 slices of cucumber
– 1/2 cup shredded turkey
– 1 large egg boiled
– 1.5 oz. homemade mayo (no sugar or preservatives.
Snack:
– 1 tbsp. coconut oil
– 1 tsp. cocoa
– 1 stevia pack
Here is what fitday spit out for nutritional information:
Total calories – 966
Fat – 81.8 grams (76%)
Carbohydrates – 10.4 grams (4%)
Protein – 45 grams (19%)
I know that I need t up my carbohydrates somehow … BUT keep in mind that I do best under 30 grams of carbs per day – every time I have raised them higher than that, I seem to gain like crazy … Any ideas for dinner and snack are greatly appreciated…

Any ideas about the carb part? I’m not sure what else to have …
Funny part is that I’m not really feeling hungry at all … I last ate at 12:30 – so it’s been 3 hours since I ate .. so I’ve got a little time, but should be thinking about throwing something together by 4:30-5:00 and I definitely should be eating before I got out at 5:30 (I can’t eat out – allergic to a lot of things…) BUT I’m just not hungry…

I’m not sure. It seems like you’re getting plenty of vegetables for carbs.
When I was getting as close to goal as you are, I often kept my carbs below 20 but sometimes up to 35 or more. I would add in some nuts then but I didn’t fret it too much. But I didn’t (and don’t still ) eat if I’m not hungry. Your body will tell you when you need more food (in my opinion)
You’re doing great!

But aren’t we supposed to be eating atleast 20 grams?? I’m only at 10.8 grams right now and most of these are fiber – so the net count would be even lower …
Why oh why am I finding things confusing now … it was so easy when I first started .. I seemed to have no problem at all… Back then it was like: diet soda? no problem! NSA Chocolate – sure! Now if I have any of those items, I am sure to go up half to a full lb. (if I’m lucky)…
BAHHH!!!

You can have up to 20 grams of carbs for induction (I don’t have DANDR with me as I am at work right now, so I’m sorry if I’m wrong). You are so close to goal and should be going up/gone up the ladder so you can have more than that. I can eat far beyond that in carbs and still lose if I don’t watch it (although I exercise like a fiend
)

How about a nice veggie stir-fry with some chicken breast? Your fat is fine, imho you could use a bit of extra protein. In my experience with Fitday, the fiber is subtracted for you so you’re at 10.4 net grams for the day. Load up the stir fry with mushrooms and such, toss in some chicken and you’re good to go. I don’t know where on the ladder you are, but a good night-time snack for me is always a spoonful of natural peanut butter.

I actually have upped the carbs .. I know that I can handle up to 30 carbs without starting to have troubles … I wish it were higher, but unforutnately have to accept the level that works for me…

Mmmm peanut butter .. my candida issues have made this an absolute no no – it seems to set me off on a candida outbreak

are you sure that your calories need to be that low? you have under a thousand. I understand about counting cals but I think that is a bit too low at your weight. Have you tried varying cal counts? 1000, 1200, 900,etc (based on what you eat now)? so overall you will avg around the same but everyday will be a little different.
oops sorry I just realized that was just lunch and bkfast/
I agree about the stirfry. What about some roasted chicken with a salad?
