Cost of In-Clinic Program?

Monday, March 16th, 2009

I am very overweight, and traveling is difficult. At the same time, I know that the in-clinic support is something that I really need.

Getting to the clinic is going to take some planning; I just want to make sure that I can afford it. Can someone please post the latest fees that the In-clinic costs. Also how much are the injections? How often are you seeing the clinic nurses?

favorite low carb low cost recipe

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Hi all! In light of gas prices soaring across the country ($3.39.9 here in MN!) I thought it would be nice to post our favorite low cost, low carb recipes. I know I am really feeling the crunch and cannot afford to buy fancy ingredients so ideas that people can make with everyday ingredients is a good thing right now.

My favorite –

Take a boneless skinless chicken breast, pound it till thinned a bit. Once pounded take a spoonful of cream cheese (I use the garlic-herb kind, but you can use plain or whatever flavor you like) place on the chicken breast, roll up. Put one slice of bacon around the chicken and secure with toothpicks. Brown for a few minutes on each side, then finish up in the oven at 350 for about 20-25 minutes. This is simple, inexpensive and delicious!

Anyone else have some to add

What prepared foods (bars, mixes, etc.) are worth the high cost?

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

I am three weeks into the LC WOE and I was feeling a bit deprived (one of my major diet pitfalls) so I tried ordering some different bars, mixes and prepared foods. Some are ok, but some are just downright nasty. I was interested in hearing some opinions.

The Davinci Syrups are amazing, can’t wait to try more varieties. Has anyone tried making snowcones with it?

I tried making pancakes, cookies and biscuits with a no-carb baking mix, but the texture was just too gritty.

The Atkins peanut butter cup is pretty good – but I am careful to have only one cup a day after reading other posts about gastric effects.

My favorite so far, is the Atkins Banana Nut Muffin/Bread mix. I made the muffins and they were great! It almost makes me question the carb count. Can they be trusted? The only thing I would change next time, is to not use the muffin paper liners – I lost too much of the muffin when it stuck to the liner!

Anyway, I would appreciate someone sharing their "finds" with me. Overall, I find this WOE realitivly easy to stick to (Cheat free for the entire 3 weeks!)
