flax seed oil… another ?, i’m sorry

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

I keep asking questions, I’m so sorry!

Today I was telling my mom that my hands are super dry and cracked, she told me that her personal trainer recommended taking flax seed oil for dry skin, amongst other things.

Does anyone here take this supplement? What do you think of it? Thanks!

Switching over to PP (sorry so long)

Hi everyone,

I first want to thank everyone who participates on these forums as they provide so much needed information. I can’t tell you how many hours I have spent through these forums finding the information I need. Now on to my question (yes, I am finally going to ask one, stepping out of my comfort zone here)

I have been doing atkins for quite some time and have just found myself stalled for months. After doing much reading on Dr. Eades blog I am going to try to stir things up a bit and see what I get. I bought the book, know my lbm is 114 I know I am to eat at least 70 grams of protein daily. I am not sure about the fat intake, I know with atkins it wasn’t about calories just carbs and make sure you get enough fat. What I am trying to find out is what is the percentage of fat that I should incorporating?

After reading his blog: Low carb and calories on May 27, 2008 I have decided to do to protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then just my usual meat and veggies for dinner. I know in his blog he says you can do this to jump start your weight loss, and boy do I need it, this stall has been so hard to keep going. I am pretty sure on Atkins I was eating too much cheese and nuts and not watching calories. So he states this in his blog:

"Were I you, I would do what I, myself, do when I gain a little weight and want to get it off. I do protein shakes two or three times per day and one meat meal. With the protein shakes I can control my caloric intake while continuing to get the required protein to maintain lean body mass and prevent a drop off in metabolic rate. Once I get my weight to where I want it, I go back to my regular way of eating, which allows me to maintain pretty well. "
My question would be the meat meal? I can include veggies you think? or is talking just a meat meal like in a meat fast? I have been doing the shakes for breakfast and lunch and having a regular low carb dinner making sure my protein is at least 70 grams. (I am 5′7 and weigh 203lbs with a lbm of 114) My fat intake is fairly low and I know it’s due to the shakes, my husband wants me to add a raw egg in for the fat content but not sure about the warning of raw eggs. although he does it everyday :-) Do I not need to be concerned on fat? But I know I am dragging my calories right now are 1200-1400, I try to do a daily walk(I admit I don’t always make it) and work out with a trainer twice a week for 25 minutes. I am going to start incorporating the Slow Burn exercise program starting next week.

Problem right now I jumped on the scale and after doing this for 2 days I went from 203 to 199 :-) YIPPPEE. But I am dragging here. And seriously I don’t even have the energy to go walking. This sucks, I don’t know what else to do. By the way I have lost 86lbs already and been in a stall for 3 months (before the stall I went off my diet for 2 months) I was down to 183 before I went off :-(

Please any and all suggestions I welcome, Thank you so much!!!!!

Sorry in advance!

Hi. I am a super lurker and I am looking for the thread for different ways to make protein shakes. I had it saved on my other computer. I tried searching but couldn’t find it. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Could increasing carb intake for a day get the scale moving? (sorry this is long)

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

For the last few weeks the scale has not budge and needless to say I was beginning to get very frustrated. I tried keeping close watch on carbs keeping them to under 20g per day and noticed that it did not appear like I was eating as much. Well yesterday I thought for sure I blew it because this is what I ate all day:

B – 2 sticks (slim jim size) summer sausage, 2 sticks colby jack cheese
L – 3 Wendy doublestacks with no bun, ketchup
S – 10 SF peanut butter cups
D – HUGE (1.5 lb ) steak, asparagus

To my surprise when I got on the scale this morning it showed that I was down 2 lb. Have not cheating since beginning this WOL in Sept. but thought for sure the SF PB cups would show on the scale this morning. BTW, I should have listened to all of you about the feeling after eating the SF things… did not agree with the stomach at all!!

I am happy that the scale moved this morning but do you think maybe I was not eating enough before or do you think just by adding more carbs it gave me a jump start? I would usually eat

B – 2 eggs, 4 pieces of bacon
L – 2 hard boiled eggs, pork rinds, 2 ham rolls w/cream cheese
D – Chicken, small salad or asparagus

All of you always give the best advice and I’m still learning what works for my body. I have a lot to lose but am taking it one day at a time and 47 lbs in 4 1/2 months I don’t think it too bad!

Diarrhea questions (sorry for the gross topic)!

Friday, January 9th, 2009

I’ve had diarrhea since Sunday. My only symptoms are the diarrhea and a lot of fatigue.

A couple of questions:

What do you eat that is lowcarb when you have diarrhea?

And can the doctor prescribe something for me to help with the diarrhea that is better than what you can buy over the counter at the drugstore?

I am soooo sorry

I have been neglecting this board for months and it looks like a few of you are incorporating ideas you got elsewhere into the diet and some people just seem confused as to what they should actually be doing …

I researched this diet three years and I post very regularly on some other boards, but I am sorry to say I let this one fall to the wayside and now I feel a bit guilty that there are people over here that need help – and I wasn’t around..

I promise to be better… Forgive me?

I post pretty regularly at www.bellyforever.com in the diet forum and ya’ll are welcome to pop in and read the posts over there.. Maybe it would be a helpful tool for some.. I’ll still post here though too
